Rapid Re-Housing Program
The Rapid Re-Housing Program helps individuals and families experiencing homelessness move into safe, permanent housing as quickly as possible. The program is funded through the Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), which is managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Rapid Re-Housing provides short-term support to help individuals and families find and maintain housing. It also helps remove barriers and connects households with community resources that support long-term stability.
Program Services May Include:
- Help finding and securing housing
- Short-term or medium-term rental assistance
- Help with security deposits and utility costs
- Support with landlords and housing concerns
- Case management and housing stability planning
- Budgeting and financial education
- Referrals for employment and income support
- Transportation assistance when available
- Connections to healthcare, behavioral health, childcare, and other community services
Who the Program Serves
Rapid Re-Housing may serve individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness, living in shelters, or staying in places not meant for housing. The program may also support individuals fleeing domestic violence or those referred through the Coordinated Entry System.
Eligibility is based on HUD and ESG requirements, local policies, available funding, and household need. An intake assessment is completed to review housing barriers and determine the level of help that may be available.
Getting Started
Individuals and families may be connected to Rapid Re-Housing through the Coordinated Entry System, community partners, shelters, outreach teams, hospitals, schools, law enforcement, social service providers, or a housing assessment.
Success in Rapid Re-Housing
Success may include obtaining permanent housing, maintaining housing stability, increasing income or employment when possible, and improving financial stability. The program also helps individuals and families build stronger connections to community resources and support.
