Crisis Respite Adult
The Crisis Respite Apartment (CRA) program provides short-term residential support for adults experiencing a behavioral health crisis. It serves individuals who can be safely supported in a voluntary, community-based setting instead of a hospital.
The program may support individuals leaving a psychiatric hospital, jail, Crisis Stabilization Unit, or observation service. It may also help prevent the need for hospitalization when a lower level of care is appropriate.
Crisis Respite provides a safe, structured, and supportive place for individuals to regain stability and prepare for continued recovery in the community. Services are based on each individual’s needs and focus on both immediate support and long-term stability
Program Services Include:
- Individual support and counseling
- Crisis planning and healthy coping strategies
- Connections to behavioral health treatment and ongoing support
- Connections to housing, social services, and other community resources
- Transportation to appointments and services
The average length of stay is about 30 days. The goal is to help individuals become more stable, reduce the need for emergency or hospital care, and return safely to community living.
Success may include improved emotional stability, stronger coping skills, and a clear plan for continued recovery. The program helps individuals maintain independence and move forward in the least restrictive setting possible.
